Summary

Description Cyclone Adeline-Juliet re-intensified into a beautifully symmetric swirl of clouds on April 9, 2005. The center of the storm is dominated by a well-formed eye, through which the dark waters of the Indian Ocean are clearly visible. When the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Aqua satellite captured this image at 08:55 UTC on April 9, the storm had sustained winds around 240 kilometers per hour (150 mph) with gusts to 296 kph (184 mph). Adeline-Juliet degraded after this image was acquired, and by April 12, it was no longer a cyclone-strength storm. The storm never threatened any landmass.
