Summary

Description
English: Chapel of St Edmund and Memorial Garden According to legend the chapel was built in 1272 by the monks of Bury to commemorate Edmund, the King of East Anglia, on the site of his landing in 855. By the time of the Reformation the chapel was already ruined and all that survives today is the south doorway. http://www.norfolkchurches.co.uk/hunstantonchapel/hunstantonchapel.htm Adjoining what remains of the ruined chapel is a memorial garden. The garden was planted by the Hunstanton Civic Society in partnership with the Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk as part of the Society's contribution to 'Hunstanton in Bloom 2006'. It had originally been created by the Rev'd A.A. Toms as a memorial to his two sons, who were killed in WW1, and has since become a garden of remembrance and war memorial.
