Summary

Description
English: Fishermen from Tidore during a temporary stay at the beach at Galela. Negative (original image). Besides sago and bananas fish are a staple of the Moluccan meal. Maybe the sea around the tiny island of Tidore was fished out so the fishermen were trying their luck at Galela. Incidentally, the British naturalist Wallace claimed that the Galela were great wanderers sailing their self-built boats anywhere in the east of the archipelago. They would hunt deer and boar, on tortoise and tripang (sea cucumber) fish, but also grow rice and corn. They looked like Papuans. Today, their language is also regarded as a Papuan language, but the Galela are considered 'Malays', albeit with some Papua blending. (P. Orchard, 2001).
Nederlands: Negatief. (P. Boomgaard, 2001).
