Nederlands: Borstbeeld Johannis de Rijke werd ter gelegenheid van de 400 jaar Nederlandse-Japanse handelsbetrekkingen in 2000 geschonken door het Kimura fonds uit Japan aan het dorp Colijnsplaat. Op 15 mei 2000 werd het beeld onthuld door o.a. een kleinzoon van Johannis de Rijke, Joop de Rijke, diverse andere familieleden en de voorzitter van het Kimura fonds. Het staat op de hoek van de Havelaarstraat/Oost-Kerkstraat, vlak bij het geboortehuis van Johannis de Rijke. Dit was naar alle waarschijnlijkheid Oost-Kerkstraat 9, aldaar.
Het borstbeeld is uitgevoerd in brons en staat op een natuurstenen sokkel. Rondom het beeld heeft de gemeente Noord-Beveland bestrating en afscheidingspalen geplaatst. Beeldhouwer is Nóriko Saito, Maeda Environmental Art Co.Ltd uit Japan. |
