English: Blankney & Metheringham Station. View NW, towards Lincoln; ex-GN&GE Joint March - Doncaster secondary main line. Station closed to passengers 11/9/61, to goods 15/6/64, but reopened for passengers as 'Metheringham' 6/10/75. This main line, formerly a major artery for freight traffic, now carries only local passenger trains and little freight, but is a potentially valuable alternative to the East Coast Main Line. |
