Purpose of use

This unsurfaced road, over fragile permafrost, is supposed to have hundreds of trips by huge 200 tonne ultra-large dump trucks, per day, for the next several decades. This photo helps show just how vulnerable the road, and the surrounding shoulders, would be, to environmental damage.

Replaceable?

Essentially unreplaceable. A wikimedia volunteer would not be allowed on Baffinland property, even if they could travel to the minesite. Trying to travel to the minesite would be extremely expensive.
