While pleasing to the eye, this galaxy seems less peculiar than some of the other galaxies in Arp's catalog. Given that he was looking for ejections from the centers of galaxies, I am guessing he was interested in the very bright piece of arm that seems somewhat broken off from the rest of the galaxy.
