Description

This image presents: Mercury (top-left): Messenger of the Gods, Patron of traders, shopkeepers and thieves. Three Mother Goddesses (bottom-right): Worshipped throughout the Celtic Lands of the western Empire. Mercury and Rosmerta (bottom-left): Rosmerta is a Celtic goddess. Known as the great provider. In the picture she had a source of plenty, a wooden bucket. The cloaked figures below are the geniii cucullati, Celtic spirits often shown in threes. Found in the Roman Baths Jupiter (top-left): Hand of Jupiter holding a thunderbolt. Most likely from an altar in the Temple courtyard.
