The Phase III Vanguard was built from 1956-63, built in the UK. The Vanguard was also assembled in Australia by AMI (Australian Motor Industries). Available in Saloon, Wagon and in Australia, a Utility.
The first of them in 1956 had a solid bar through the grille, the base model in Australia was still the Spacemaster whereas in the UK it was the Ensign. The upmarket model, the Sportsman
In 1957 it got a mesh grille, fins on the rear quarters and stainless steel side strips.
In 1958, now the Vignale, it got a new grille, horizontal chrome bars, larger glass, more complex stainless steel side strips, two tone, the light colour at the top and bottom, dark in the middle
In 1959, similar but the dark colour was now at the top and bottom.
In 1960, the side stainless steel strips were in the shape of a shepherds crook.
In 1961, the 6 cyl introduced, so now Six badge on the bonnet
In 1962, the side stainless steel had more of a bow in it
In 1963, the shepherds crook gone, stainless steel strip continued right to the front of the guard, Vanguard letters spread right out on the bonnet.
