Summary

Description
English: Built by the 12th-century, the Nagara-style Hindu temple has a square plan (6x6). The temple opens to the east, and the sanctum has a Shiva linga. Its wall are intricately carved with Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha scenes like other Hindu temples. The entrance to the sanctum is flanked by goddess Ganga and Yamuna.

Layers of reliefs carved in the sandstone also show musicians and dancers, as well as Hindu deities such as Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva (Bhairava), dancing Ganesha, Surya, Durga (Mahisasuramardini), Saraswati, Lakshmi, Parvati and others. Of particular note is the six-handed Harihara (the fusion deity of Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions).

Many similar temples are found across the state, some dated to about 6th-century through the 13th-century. The older temples are closer to the Mahanadi river, from Sirpur to Rajim.

The temple is about 60 kilometers north of Durg, and is connected by highway 7.
