Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you are unable to complete a move for technical reasons, you can request technical help below. This is the correct method if you tried to move a page, but you got an error message saying something like "You do not have permission to move this page, for the following reasons:..." or "The/This page could not be moved, for the following reason:..."

  • To list a technical request: edit the Uncontroversial technical requests subsection and insert the following code at the bottom of the list, filling in pages and reason:

    {{subst:RMassist|current page title|new title|reason=edit summary for the move}}

This will automatically insert a bullet and include your signature. Please do not edit the article's talk page.
  • If you object to a proposal listed in the uncontroversial technical requests section, please move the request to the Contested technical requests section, append a note on the request elaborating on why, and sign with ~~~~. Consider pinging the requester to let them know about the objection.
  • If your technical request is contested, or if a contested request is left untouched without reply, create a requested move on the article talk and remove the request from the section here. The fastest and easiest way is to click the "discuss" button at the request, save the talk page, and remove the entry on this page.

Technical requests[edit]

Uncontroversial technical requests[edit]

  • KFF Tirana AS  Tirana AS (currently a redirect back to KFF Tirana AS) (move · discuss) – The club's name has always been Tirana AS and shouldn't be confused with a different club which has a similar name, KFF Tirana. Kj1595 (talk) 17:16, 3 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Kj1595 Are they different? KFF Tirana says they were previously named Tirana AS. Unless I'm mistaken, the AS page should be merged into the KFF Tirana one as they're largely redundant. --Ahecht (TALK

I have yet to find a single Albanian source which refers to KFF Tirana as the successor club to AS Tirana. AS Tirana formed its own history, independent of KF Tirana. Not only in name but in the logo the club used. Kj1595 (talk) 18:45, 4 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pinging @Fjorilda09, who added Tirana AS's statistics to the KFF Tirana page. --Ahecht (TALK

  • Demetrius I of Macedon  Demetrius I Poliorcetes (currently a redirect back to Demetrius I of Macedon) (move · discuss) – WP uses the nickname for those Hellenistic Kings, see his father Antigonus I Monophtalmos, his son Antigonus II Gonatas, his foes Seleucus I Nikator or Ptolemy I Soter, the name of this page hasn't be updated since 2002 to reflect the practice that came into place on WP on that regard. Requests to revert undiscussed moves[edit]

@Amigao you should be able to move this back by yourself? – robertsky (talk) 02:05, 6 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Contested technical requests[edit]

  • Meath  Meath (disambiguation) (currently a redirect back to Meath) (move · discuss) – It should be made a disambiguation page so Meath can be redirected to County Meath, which is the primary topic. TwinBoo (talk) 14:49, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Probably worth a discussion, as the historical Kingdom of Meath clearly has a long-term significance as well. Navigation statistics show that around 30% of viewers on the dab page go there, which is reasonably high given that County Meath is a current extant county where people live... Might be worth a discussion?  — Amakuru (talk) 15:28, 30 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Still, usually “Meath” simply refers to the county so I’d assume it would be the primary topic, but I’ll make a discussion if necessary. —TwinBoo (talk) 11:19, 31 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly TwinBoo, a community consensus after discussion is the best option. Are you opting in for that? Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 08:26, 2 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose moving, for that matter. The kingdom definitely has long-term significance, and "Meath", as a historical entity, doesn't have the current subdivision as its primary topic. Meath was also one of the historical provinces of Ireland (although their extent fluctuated over time), so I'm surprised that isn't also mentioned in the dab. Moved to contested until we hear back (need consensus if there are alternatives suggested) ASUKITE 17:54, 5 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
